Author's Note:

I wrote this post as one of my first ever blog postings for my new website back in early 2016. I was still trying to figure out how to approach this space - was it a place to share pictures primarily, or to share stories, or a little of both? How would I organize everything, I wondered - should each location have it's own separate page, or should I do blog postings and then share those postings on each page? It has taken me more than a couple of years to make these decisions - this page is, after all, a hobby of mine and not a job - but as I've made clearer decisions about how to organize this space, revisiting this posting made me realize how influx my thinking was back then.

I've decided to leave it unchanged (other than adding a stamp to the pictures) as a sort of time capsule to my earlier thinking of how this blog would operate, and hope to add more content about Encinitas - my favorite SoCal beach town - some day in the future. I should note that Bull Taco no longer exists at this location, or anywhere else, and what a shame because their tacos were really quite delicious. However, the view from San Elijo State Beach still exists, so you should definitely visit there if you're in that neighborhood. I know we've gone back more than once to admire the scenery, and will each time we're back in that part of the world.

Cheers!

This past weekend found Ben and I visiting some good friends who used to reside on Maui when we lived there. We've visited them in SoCal before, so we knew we had to hit up Bull Taco, located in Cardiff-by-the-Sea right near the border of Encinitas.

As you wait for your delicious tacos to be made, you get to sit and watch the surf roll in.

Surfers anticipate the perfect moment to paddle out.

As you descend the steep staircase, the soft sand and life below awaits.

There, sunbathers, children frolicking in the surf, and surfers all share the same beautiful setting for their Saturday afternoon.

Even the surfers know when to take a break from the action and just enjoy the surroundings.

Surf's up!

At Bull Taco in Encinitas, you really can't beat the view.

Or the tacos!

Of course, next time we're in the neighborhood, we'll be back again!
