Germany
Germany Context
Germany has always been a dream.
My grandmother grew up for a short time in the Black Forest of western Germany, and the images of her childhood sprinkled the dreams of mine. It took me 38 years of life to finally see the place I had heard and thought so much about, and it did not disappoint.
Of course, what had existed for my grandmother over 70 years ago is quite different than the reality I found in modern times, but the country is no less delightful, beautiful, charming, and welcoming. I had purposefully avoided Germany until I could go there with family, and 2019 was the year this finally happened.
Come explore some of my ancestral homeland, get to see the sights, taste the surprisingly delicious food, and see why Germany is as charming in real life as it has been in my dreams.
